I’ve spent around ten years working as a handyman — the last few years professionally, running my own self-employed business here in Wiltshire. I cover a ten-mile radius and never quite know what the day will bring.
Some jobs are straightforward — TV mounting, flatpack building, repairs to double glazing. Others are bigger — gardening work, sheds, and my real passion, joinery projects like picnic benches. The best part? No two days are ever the same, and no two customers are either.
That variety is why I love this trade — but it’s also why I know how much can slip through the cracks when you’re busy on site.
About Taskwright
Taskwright grew out of my own frustration.
I’ve always had a knack for marketing and systems, and I’ve run different self-employed businesses over the past two decades. To make life easier, I built my own setup: calls answered, jobs booked, reviews chased — without me having to spend hours on admin (which inevitably wouldn't have been done properly.
It worked. So well, in fact, that other trades I chatted to at builders’ merchants and on jobs wanted the same thing. That was the lightbulb moment: why not package up my knowledge of trades, systems, marketing and AI into one platform built for us?
